Background

We are proud to announce that the First Asia Pacific Conference of Addiction Professionals (APCAP) will be held on May 18-19, 2017 at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. The first APCAP is organized by the Tung Wah Group of Hospitals, Integrated Centre on Addiction Prevention and Treatment (ICAPT) and co-organized with the Department of Applied Social Sciences, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University.

The conference theme of the 1st APCAP is “Application of the Syndrome Model”. We are honored to have arranged a live dialogue with the founder of Syndrome Model, Dr. Howard Shaffer. The session will be chaired by Dr. Heather Gray who will also present to us the new development of Syndrome Model. We have also invited the Executive Director of National Association for Alcoholism and Drug Abuse Counselors (NAADAC), Ms. Cynthia Moreno Tuohy to share her own recovery process and what quality should an addiction professional have. Last but not least, Dr. Martin P. Kafka, a renowned expert in treatment of paraphilia and hypersexual disorders, will deliver a pre-conference workshop and a plenary session on his experiences in treatment of sex addiction and paraphilia disorders. Addiction can have a wide spectrum of impacts including personal wellness, family functioning and even social order. A post-conference workshop on “Addiction and Law” will provide us with necessary knowledge in dealing with cases who may have addiction related offenses.

Look forward to seeing you at this meaningful and stimulating conference in May, 2017. Please also enjoy our early bird rate until 31 March 2017.
